About me

This page provides a narrative presentation of my professional life. For a more concise overview, please view or download my CV.

I'm a User Experience Designer with a purpose to create meaningful interactions and build interfaces that enable the target audience to achieve their goals.
My Background
I have a bachelor's degree (BSc) in Mathematics, which, among others, taught me how to apply structured thinking into creative design and draw parallelisms from mathematics problem solving techniques.

I have a masters (MSc) in Digital Learning and Technology Enhanced Education, which taught me how to articulate complex concepts to people unfamiliar with them and how to visualise ideas using ActionScript, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

I have a masters (MSc) in Human Computer Interaction with Egonomics from UCL, which taught me how to apply science and psychology to User Experience and Interaction Design decisions.
User Experience Design
I apply reason and justification for every design decision made by mapping them to the requirements from the end users and the business.
Research
I've conducted, planned and analysed User Research and Usability Testing doing:
Wizard of Oz technique
GOMS
Remote Usability Testing
Interviews
Task completion with Think Aloud
Guerilla Testing
Wireframes
Depending on the project, I've produced wireframes as either deliverables, or communication tools. I've used tools like:
Sketch
Keynote
Axure
Balsamiq
Proto.io
The traditional pen and paper
Animations
Animations are a key part of the user experience. When used sensibly, they can help with discovery of interface elements, navigation, and contribute to an overall experience that will delight the customers and end users.
I've communicated the animation design and requirements with Stakeholders, end users during the usability testing sessions, and Development teams using a variety of tools such as:
Keynote
Axure
Origami
InVision
Flash
Visual Design
Even though professionally trained as a visual designer, I appreciate a good design, and enjoy contributing to visual design ideas when needed. I use tools like:
Sketch
Photoshop
Illustrator
When I was working for RedKite Financial Markets, I was also producing visual design assets for the financial platform, due to the lack of a dedicated designer. I've also created the visual design language for the "No Excuse" app and made the "Ruby the Robot" character for the iOS sticker project.
Development
Though not a professional developer, I was exposed to development during my "Digital Systems and Technology enhanced Education" MSc where I was taught the basics of:
JavaScript
HTML
CSS
ActionScript
Since then, I use and have expanded the knowledge as needed for User Experience Design and Animations. I wrote the first version of the "Quotes" app purely in JavaScript and used Phonegap and Xcode to port it to the iPhone.
Workshops, Client Presentations, and Pitch
I've set up and facilitated workshops as part of either ideation, exploration, or project pitch for User Experience.
Sectors I've worked in
I've mainly worked in:
Finance,
Banking,
Risk and Compliance,
Health and Fitness,
Education,
Computer Entertainment
Oil sectors for many of the Fortune 500 companies.
I've created or helped create systems, platforms, hybrid and native apps.
Public speaking and Conferences
I am a public speaker for various conferences, including:
UCD

Teaching
I am a trainer for Mobile UX Academy, teaching Wireframing and Prototyping as part of a bigger UX training course.
Personal Projects and Interests
When not designing, I compose music and take photographs.
